Serenity of Sekeping Serendah

 The long awaited holiday which after much planning, we decided to 

have a family-retreat to Sekeping Serendah.

So planning includes shopping for food and more food stuff, 

at the cashier counter we actually thought we have over-done our shopping. 

But what’s done is done so we took everything home.

Our journey starts late afternoon, as we took a slow drive towards Serendah 

and enjoying the scenic route after exiting the highway.

It’s rather easy to locate this place if you do not relay on your GPS 

which my youngest girl quoted as saying “Guna Pasti Sesat” – 

comical phrase and rather true sometimes!

Sekeping is famed for its ‘Glass House’ which we unfortunately did not get but 

upon arrival and checking out the ‘Glass House’; we actually appreciated the 

log-cabin which we got with a white-pebbles walk-way towards the pool.  

The spacious log-cabin with its white-washed wall and ‘kampung’ style architecture combined with modern interior furnishing includes a outdoor shower and toilet. 

And to our delight, it’s got hot shower something which we cannot do without.

This retreat is suitable for weekend getaway, 

there’s no phone reception and definitely no Wifi or internet.

I enjoyed the tranquility and peace that this place has to offer, 

no stress, no rushing for datelines and simply don’t even look at the time, 

just pure relaxation.

The care-taker came over to start the BBQ pit for us and get the fire going. 

My boy was extremely excited and can’t wait to show-off his BBQ-ing skills. 

We waited anxiously for our dinner and had water-melon, salads as starter. 

Finally, our dinner were served – deliciously cooked pork ribs, 

chicken wings and buttered corn-on-cob.  

It was an amazing meal indeed!

For supper, the kids made bacon-strip stuffed with lots of loads of fillings. 

Yummmy!

And that’s it for the night! While we were sleeping, some dogs came ravaging for food and ate some of our sausages left on the counter… amazing animal these creatures!!

Next morning, the kids woke early and made their way to the pool. With a hot cup of coffee in one hand I strolled down to the pool area.  Sitting next to the pool and observing which one of the kids had enough guts to go into the extremely freezing pool. Of course, the boy did it.

Shortly the next exploration to the nearby ‘water-fall’ began; it’s a short walk about 15 minutes.  There is nothing unique about this waterfall, sort of like a big outdoor swimming pool and the water is kind of murky.  So it’s back to our very own private swimming pool which by now the water temperature is just nice for a cool dip.

All the excitement at the pool left us all starving, so we had a big breakfast of sumptuous tortilla rolls stuffed with bacon, sausages and salads.  

Overall, we rather enjoyed this weekend together with no interruption from the digital world. It’s a perfect location for family to bond and enjoy each other company, just a simple retreat from the busy world we live in.

Malaysia International Shoe Festival 2013

The 4th shoe festival officially launched by YB Dato Dr Ng Yen Yen at PWTC in Kuala Lumpur on 28^th March 2013. 

A unique exhibition that is a pure delight to Malaysian shoe lovers, brings in more than 150 shoe brands both locally and abroad.

The festival is themed ‘Walking in Unity, Sole of the Nation’ , appropriate to the liveliness of the festival that brings in shoppers from all walks of life.

It’s a great opportunity to check out this festival for shoe offers, enjoy the exclusive fashion show, meet the shoe icon – Jimmy Choo and a chance to win some prizes!

The White Bat

A woman’s journey to rediscover herself and eventually found love in the arms of another man!

The White Bat was a Danceworks productions in aid of local charities, a project collaboration between Ena Ballet Studio Company and Istana Budaya. This Malaysian production flew in 13 invited guest artistes from Japan and Australia.

The woman, Bella find herself caught in an unhappy marriage to Jonathan, an ambitious architect. Jonathan is so obsessed with work that he neglects his wife who is desperate for love.

The Bat is deeply in love with Bella, took her on a romantic rendezvous and seduces her with all his love.

Bella fell deeply in love with the Bat. Jonathan realized his mistake and tried to win Bella back but it was too late!

A beautiful and mesmerizing performance by the dancers that exudes emotions of love, sadness and happiness  as a consequences of this love-triangle. 

We all love a happy-ending. 

Malaysia International Shoe Festival - 2012

Historically, shoes were essentially created to protect our ancestors’ feet; 

and it’s interesting to study how shoes have evolved. 

Today, shoes have become an essential accessory to both men and women alike.  

By looking at a pair of shoes, one can see that they do 

reflect the personality of the wearer. 

In fact,  the brand name of the shoes can reveal the social status and styles of the owner.

Buying a pair of shoes is never easy as it can be a very time-consuming task. 

Everyone has their own favourite choices on branding, types and comfort preference.

So to the delights of shoe lovers in Malaysia, the Malaysia Footwear Manufacturers Association held its 3^rd Shoe Festival in 2012 bringing under one roof the likes of international shoes and fashion celebrities – Jimmy Choo and Zang Toi.

The festival were officially launched by our Queen 

to the delights of guests and exhibitors.

 

Of course, I should not fail to mention that this event were made possible by our very own Minister of Tourism, YB Dato Dr Ng Yen Yen, whom had supported this event  

way back to its 1^st launch in year 2000.

The council of Malaysia Footwear Association announced that the  

MISF event had elevated the status of local shoe manufacturers and 

placed our local brands on par with International branding!

I am a shoe lover and being among all those gorgeous shoes, 

I just wish I can have them all.  It’s a dream-like shoe haven of shoes and more shoes!

So clear out your shoe closet and be ready to be surprised with the 

amazing offerings of shoes for all and any occasion.

Peter & Jane Kindergarten’s 10th Sports Carnival – Hula Hula Bash

Peter & Jane Kindergarten is indeed not just your ordinary kindergarten but one that uniquely differentiates itself in terms of their passion in education and also building the characters in their students.  Over the past 10 years, children of Peter and Jane were known to excel brilliantly after graduating from this early childhood education school.

The children not only work hard in their studies but were creatively groomed to perform in the kindergarten’s annual concert and also the bi-annual sports carnival. Last year, the carnival falls on 22^nd April 2012 and once again held at the sprawling Sunway Lagoon.

Themed ‘Hula Hula Bash’, where some came sporting ‘Hawaiian’ hula straw skirts and colourful flora costumes.  

Everyone had fun at this carnival filled with lots of games, tele-matches, sandcastle making competition to face painting, bead making, hair breading and etc. The fun is endless and lots of gifts and prizes to the delights of kids as well as parents 

or grand-parents.
